USA: The New York City Health Department is investigating a cluster of legionnaires’ disease cases in the Highbridge neighbourhood in the Bronx.

Four people have been diagnosed with legionnaires’ disease since May 9, and results for other individuals are pending. To date, there have been no deaths associated with the cluster. The Health Department says it is actively investigating the cases and is sampling and testing water from all cooling tower systems in the area of the cluster.

An outbreak of the disease in the South Bronx in 2015 killed a dozen New Yorkers and sickened another 127. A cooling tower on the roof of the Opera House Hotel was eventually found to be the source.
