UK: Johnson Controls has acquired Asset+, a specialist provider of energy reduction and zero-carbon measures for the UK public sector.   

Incorporated in 2010 and based in Farnborough, Hampshire, Asset+ offers strategic support and project management of energy efficiency measures to multiple NHS organisations, local authorities, and educational establishments. Solutions include air source heat pumps, low-energy LED lighting and solar power integration. 

David Lloyd, head of connected buildings at Johnson Controls UK&I, said the deal would enable Johnson Controls to deliver a turnkey net-zero offering to all its UK clients. 

Asset+ is said to complement Johnson Controls’ specialist public sector services, having been appointed as a supplier under five key procurement frameworks, including the Re:Fit Programme and the Carbon and Energy Fund (CEF) public sector procurement initiatives. The NHS recently selected Johnson Controls for its National Framework Agreement for the provision of Smart Building Solutions using the IoT. 

According to Johnson Controls, the acquisition provides further opportunities for UK public bodies to realise ambitious sustainability targets through smart technologies. These include Johnson Control’s OpenBlue complete suite of connected solutions. 

“With Asset+ enhancing Johnson Controls’ existing portfolio, organisations can now adopt insight-driven sustainability strategies, taking informed action to reduce energy consumption, lower costs and adopt green electricity,” said Jamie Cameron, Johnson Controls UK&I’s director of digital solutions. 

Asset+ was recently involved in the supply of over 180 Carrier AquaSnap 61AF air-to-water heat pumps to 60 schools in London and the West Midlands under the UK’s Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme.
