GERMANY: Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG), owner of Danish HVAC manufacturer Dantherm, has acquired Trotec, a German manufacturer and distributor of a range of products from portable air conditioners to tools.
The transaction is mainly a leveraged acquisition. DBAG Fund VIII is also supporting the transaction with a capital commitment of up to €15m, of which almost a quarter is attributable to the co-investment made by Deutsche Beteiligungs AG.
Trotec will join forces with Dantherm and will be managed by the current Dantherm management board of Bjarke Brøns (CEO), Jakob Bonde Jessen (COO) and Stefano Verani (CCO) together with Trotec MD Alexandra Goertz. Trotec founder Detlef von der Lieck will retain a significant stake in the new group and sit on the company’s advisory board.
The combined activities will have sales of around €360m and employ 950 people.
Going forward, DBAG says the B2B business activities will be continued with the international brands in Dantherm Group combined with the B2B products in Trotec in order for customers to benefit from a broader product range. Dantherm Group is not active in online sales and the B2C market, where Trotec is strong, so these activities will be continued in the Trotec brand.
